Include Keyword in URL
A good URL tells Google to understand what your page is all about, additional a keyword-rich URL can also improve CTR to your website.
For example, my targeted keyword is “SEO audit tools” so I made the URL: greetyourself.in/seo-audit-tools.
Make your URL shorter
Recent SERPs analysis says 11.8 million google search results have short URLs and they rank better than Google Search.
Short URL looks simple and easy to read, creating URLs that Users can easily read or understand.

Bad Example: xyz.com/best-auditing-tools-for-digital-marketing-experts-xyz-abcd.
Include Keyword In Title
Including Keywords in the Title is one of the best SEO practices. Most people don’t know where to put the keyword in the title.
Best Practice to put the keyword at the starting of your title, for example, you can see this post titled “Free SEO Audit Tools” in Front of the Title.
Keyword in First 100 Words
Make sure to use the keyword once in the first 100 words of the article because google puts weight on the first paragraph of the content.
Keywords in Headings
Google slightly changes Search Engine Result Pages Titles randomly, google serves random titles from content heading text so make sure you have used keywords in headings too.
H1, H2, H3 headings don’t affect the direct ranking but when it comes to Search engine optimization every little thing helps. Also, proper heading can improve the structure to understand which heading is more important.
Images say a lot more about your content but unfortunately, Google bots can’t see images as we humans see. To help Google understand what images are about you have to name images as image alt tags or filenames.
Optimized images also help content to rank better on search engine pages. Make sure to name images’ alt tag name properly.
Use External Links
Make sure whenever you write content link it to high authority websites for a quality source. Those links referred to google that our content is trustworthy and have a great source of reference.
Use Internal Links
Very simply, whenever you publish blogs just add internal links to 2-4 pages of your other pages.
It tells Google that our website is well structured and internal links to all other pages of websites.
TECHNICAL SEO CHECKLISTS
Technical SEO is important because it can increase or decrease SEO rankings. Technical SEO isn’t hard just a simple process and it’s done: let’s see the technical SEO Checklist:
On the web time is the essence. Website performance is very important if your site loads very slowly, you can lose lots of visitors. Recently Google updated an algorithm that works on website performance called core web vitals. Ensure that your website loads fully in below 2 seconds, FCP, FID, LCP, CLS are major factors in Web performance.
Core web vitals are a direct ranking signal to make sure your website is fully optimized and loads faster to check the performance you can google tools Page Speed Insight or GTmetrix those are best to check speed.
Secure your site with HTTPS
Google confirmed HTTPS as a direct ranking signal if your website isn’t redirected to an HTTPS server you have time to do now.
HTTPS will protect visitors’ data to avoid hacking and malware attacks.
An XML sitemap tells the search engine about the website structure and which pages have to be indexed in search engine results pages.
Optimized Robots.txt File
Robots.txt files are instructions for google or other search engine bots to tell how to crawl website pages. You have to make sure that the robots txt file isn’t blocking any important page that should be indexed. Also, include XML sitemap in robots.txt file so bots can easily crawl all pages.
Make sure you’re allowing Google to only use one version of your website. A search engine sees all these URLs as different domains rather than one single domain.
To avoid such things there is an HTML attribute called canonical tag, you have to just add rel=”canonical” href=”https://greetyourself.in” to page source code to verify the preferred page URL to index in search result page index.
Google has launched Mobile-First-Index which means if your website isn’t mobile-friendly then your website has to struggle for better search ranking.
Check is your website is mobile-friendly easily with Google’s mobile-friendly test.
Structured Data or Schema Markup
Structured data helps to provide information to google bots about a page and its content, giving such information to google about the details of the page and improving organic visibility on the SERPs.
There are many different types of schema markup like organization, review, article, people, place, local businesses, and many more you can check here on Google Search Central Blog for more details.
Check Broken Links
Broken links hurt more than breakups 😅 yeah a single broken link can hurt your optimized SEO. Make sure all your links are working fine and redirect properly.
DrLinkCheck is a free tool to check website links easily.
OFF-PAGE SEO CHECKLIST
Off-Page SEO The name says it all, off the page doesn’t imply on the website. The main activities of off-page SEO are creating external backlinks for websites through various activities like Guest posts, Social Bookmarking, Forums, etc.
Off-Page SEO Checklist is as follow:
- Check total backlinks of a website
- Quality of backlinks
- Traffic from backlinks.
- Social media Activities.
- Dofollow and Nofollow Backlinks.
- Spammy Links Source.
- Broken Links (Removed Links)
- Local Business Listing.
An Off-Page SEO activity can improve your website authority like DA (Domain Authority), DR (Domain Rating) and also give a trustworthy signal to the google search ranking. Still, link building isn’t an official or direct ranking signal but it can increase visibility.
